Bukchon Hanok Village

November 18, 2015

Bukchon Hanok village is neighbourhood in Seoul that dates back to the 14th century. It is filled with traditional homes in narrow streets. The traditional homes have been restored and some of the homes has been turned into guesthouses, cultural centre's, tea house's, and restaurants catering to tourists. It's a very popular attraction for tourists to visit while in Seoul.

I loved walking around the narrow alleyways and climbing up and down the hill in Hanok village. The traditional homes has a lot of wood incorporated in the architecture. I was wondering who owned some of the houses there. It would be so interesting to live in those homes.

I wish I could have went inside one of the homes there but I didn't have the time. Instead I admired the wooden gates of the homes.

  1. This place looks interesting! It would've been cool to stay at one of the guesthouses here.

  2. I love areas like this and would so love to visit. I love that feeling of old meeting new. And those roads and alleyways! Ah.. so lovely~ :)

  3. Dutchman and I stayed at one of the Hanok houses here in Bukchon. It's at the end of one of the streets and it was a beautiful house. We had the whole wing to ourselves. We slept on the heated floors with the mattresses. We did everything on the floor. Not easy at first when you are used to sitting on a chair and using a table. A very great experience all in all.

    1. I have to go back to Seoul to stay here and also in Gangnam.

  4. What a beautiful village. Love your pictures. What an amazing place to visit. How long are you staying in Seoul?
