What I Ate: Street food in Seoul

October 27, 2015

Street food in Seoul was aplenty. I just didn't have room to stuff it all in my stomach! I had the best time sampling what I could while burning the calories from walking. Chestnut vendors were everywhere. It reminded me so much of Lisbon.

I sampled a lot of small glutinous snacks and even managing to stain my jacket with an oozing bread like snack with a filling inside (I didn't know). Clumsiness aside it was worth the stain on my jacket. No wonder they gave me a cup with it.

And that ice cream was my savior when I ate a super spicy dish by mistake.

Update from Rome

October 22, 2015

Ciao friends! I am completely head over heels about Rome...by that I mean specifically the Trastevere neighbourhood. Staying here has been the BEST decision ever!!!! I can't even begin to tell you how madly I fell in love with this place. I love how cozy it feels. We stayed in this cute B & B that was opposite of the famous Dar Poeta Pizzeria. Ate there twice already (more on that later when I upload everything on my laptop). Trastevere is just magical! It has the really good restaurants for less than what you will pay in the Centro Historico and it feels more authentic. I love all the side streets and the gelateria's on every corner (been eating gelato each day).

All my days has been spent walking and walking some more. It's the best way to see this city. I like exploring all the side streets rather than going on the main squares. I actually enjoy walking around than going to specific landmarks in the city because it's just full of line up's and massive crowds. To truly experience the city means to go on side streets and go from there. You will find a lot of gems.

I hope you are all having a wonderful week. It's Friday tomorrow so TGIF! and have a great weekend! More update on my instagram :)

Deoksugung Palace Part II

October 21, 2015

After watching the changing of the guards, we made our way inside the palace grounds. The entrance fee was $1 I think. And if you should up wearing the traditional costumes I believe the entrance is free.

It was perfect for strolling around especially because the leaves were turning into the hues of yellow and orange. I was surprised that it was really quiet inside the Palace grounds and it was overrun by tourists. We even met some University students in Seoul who was gladly practicing their English with my bf while I snapped pictures around me.

Playing dress up in Seoul

October 16, 2015

I was so excited to meet up with my friend Jess in South Korea. She lives in Seoul but we met in Toronto when she was studying here for a year. We were introduced by a mutual friend and we became fast friends. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to visit her hometown.

We met up in Insa-dong and she took me to a photo booth store. We got to play dress up in traditional hanbok and make silly faces together. It was so good to catch up with her again in person.

I will in Italy for a few weeks. I have scheduled posts from South Korea while I'm gone. If you want to see my updates in Italy please visit my instagram. I will be posting my adventures there.

Have a good weekend!

Thanksgiving hike

October 11, 2015

It's the Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend which means turkey, family, hikes, and 3 days work free. I'm always grateful for this break to spend some time with my family. My sister invited the whole family at her house for dinner. She cooked a beautiful turkey with all the sides. It was fantastic and the company couldn't be better.

The photos above are from my hike today. I always end up at Rouge River during fall to capture the maples change colours. It was a beautiful fall day. Sunny and warm! Unbelievable!! I had to take full advantage of it now before I leave for Italy next weekend. I didn't want to miss it.

Italy next week! I'm excited but fully not ready yet mentally as I have a lot to do before I go. I am dreading to pack but I think I'm going to start putting things on my suitcase tomorrow so I don't panic.

Wishing you all a great Thanksgiving and hope you are enjoying it with your family and friends!

P.S. If you have any recommendations for restaurants, sights, etc. for Rome, Naples, and Amalfi Coast please let me know. Much appreciated!

Deoksugung Palace Part I

October 9, 2015

While we were making our way back to our apartment on foot when we noticed a crowd in front of a gate. We inched closer to see what was going on and it was the changing of the guards at the Deoksugung Palace. It was fun to witness it and see the guards in full costume for the all the tourists to enjoy.
