Birthday Celebration in Japan

Part of the reason for going to Okinawa was to spend my birthday there. We flew to Okinawa the day of my birthday. I was very excited to be on the plane on my birthday and landing to explore the island. 

We drove around Onna in the rain to find a restaurant for dinner. We found a traditional family-style restaurant which was perfect for me. I didn't want anything fancy for my birthday. Just something simple with good food. And it's what we got. We all ordered the noodle dish called So-ki soba. A famous Okinawan dish! The broth was delicious.  The noodles were perfect! And the beef was tender. 

We capped off my birthday by going back to our Airbnb and eating cake! Big thanks to my husband and bestie Keiko for making it a special day for me. 

Birthday in Mexico

Like I mentioned before, I like to spend my birthday's abroad. And this time, I got lucky enough to once again leave the country to celebrate my birthday in Huatulco, Mexico. Getting older sucks but my pain is lessened when I'm in a warmer climate, eating a nice meal, and drinking wine.

I woke up on my birthday with the sun shinning! What else can I ask for?

We spent the whole day at the beach. I was so happy to finally not wear socks and 10 million layers of clothing. 

For dinner, we booked a reservation at El Mexicano. It was one of the a la carte restaurants in our resort. I was so excited for our meal!

I had avocado with shrimp ceviche for my appetizer and main course was grilled fish (forgot to take a picture of it).

Well, after the main course, I was feeling ill and a barely ate a piece of the chocolate cake that was in front of me. And trust me, I LOVE desserts and I always eat my birthday cake. We left the restaurant and went back to our room.

Half an hour later, I projectile vomited my dinner. I blame the ceviche!!

Overall, I had a really amazing day! and now, I won't ever forget my eventful birthday dinner in Mexico. 

Birthday Destinations

My birthday falls in the dead of winter. February is the shortest but sometimes can be the coldest month in winter. It's a depressing month coupled up with me getting older. I began to strategically plan my trips between my birth day a couple of years ago. I really try not to be home during my birthday to avoid depression and the cold cold winter. 

I try to celebrate in warmer climates so I don't have to bundle up to go out. Beach destinations is usually my target. I like to relax and do nothing on my birthday.

So far, I have celebrated my birthday's in Thailand, Cuba, Spain, and Costa Rica. I want to keep going for as long as I can.

After going through a rollercoaster 2009. I wanted to celebrate my birthday in peace, on the beach with mojito's on both hands. The choice was easy, CUBA!

February 2010

It was a very relaxing weekend. I spent everyday waking up late, eating all kinds of foods, lounging by the pool or the beach, drinking lots of rum, and forgetting all my problems!
