What I Ate: Seoul

October 6, 2015

I love Korean food but I was apprehensive about the spice level that I will be getting in Seoul. I cannot stomach spicy foods. It just doesn't go well with me and I feel sick. I relied a lot on pictures to order in restaurants.  The meal above was amazing! It was a cold day and Seoul and having that soup with kimbap was a great combination!
Found this random restaurant in our neighbourhood. It was full of people but we found a table for two. My bf ordered the spicy seafood and I got the Korean pancake. I tried the seafood but it was too spicy for me. The vegetable pancake was perfect!
This is hands down one of the best meal I had in Seoul. We had lunch at this random restaurant in Insa-dong. I didn't know that I ordered a vegetarian meal. Everything was delicious and I have no clue what the names of the vegetables that I ate but it was FANTASTIC! I would go back to South Korea for this! I don't remember the name of the restaurants as most are in Korean but I know exactly where to retrace my steps.

  1. Hehe, to be honest, foods like jun (the pancake) or bibimbap (the veggie bowl) aren't considered to be vegetarian by Koreans. It's just part of the traditional food and the contents can change depending on the area and the time of year. For example, the seh-ssak-bibimbap that you tried is usually popular in the spring when there are new sprouts popping up. In the winter a lot of people seek out the dol-sote version which is cooked in a hot pot and toasty warm;)

    1. Thanks for letting me know! I really enjoyed more veggie type food because it has so much flavour! I don't usually gravitate towards veggies at home ;)

    2. Definitely! I'm not the type that will decide to make a salad for breakfast. It's more something I'll have on the side :P So a meal like bibimbap is lovely because it tastes awesome and has all these healthy veggies inside :D
