Sagres Part I

June 25, 2013

Let`s continue on to my trip in Portugal back in winter. We drove all the way to the end of the coast of Algarve. We arrived in Sagres. The coast is beautiful. Watching the ocean from the top was amazing!
It was sunny but windy day.
The view was breathtaking. We saw the rock formations from the mountain and we drove down to see it. The road is winding and it was pretty scary. More to come on my next post.

What I ate: Chicago - My first deep dish pizza

June 18, 2013

To be totally honest, one of the reasons I went to Chicago was to eat deep dish pizza. I was watching Food Network a year ago and saw a show featuring this delicious creation and I knew I had to go and try it.
While walking around Michigan Avenue, we ended up at Gino's East. We scored seats outside and had a wonderful server help us navigate the menu. We ended up ordering a medium pizza and we waited for about 40 minutes. It's a good idea to order appetizer because the wait is quite long but it's definitely worth it!
The deep dish pizza is loaded with toppings. I only had 2 pieces of pizza before I gave up eating. I was soo full.

Overall, it was worth a try when your in Chicago. It is after all an original Chicago invention.

Chicago: Cloud Gate

June 13, 2013

Cloud gate a.k.a. the bean is located in Millennium Park and created by Anish Kapoor. Probably one of the most recognizable landmark in Chicago. It's always packed with tourists. I went on a weekend and could not get a proper photo so I went back again on a weekday and it was much better.
look familiar?

Chicago: Navy Pier

June 10, 2013

After the architecture tour, I had too much energy to burn so we walked to Navy Pier. We decided to walk along the river and make use of the trails. I love how Chicago has trails along the river and the view is just magnificent.
Chilling with Bob Newhart
Wonderful canoe statue
Busy busy day at the Pier
Ferris wheel anyone? I was too scared to take a ride
Peaceful side of the Pier
Navy Pier offers entertainment for the entire family. You can take rides, eat at restaurants or eat junk food from carts littered all over the Pier (I had a hot dog!), shopping, or just general people watching.

Chicago - Architecture Tour Part II

June 5, 2013

The boat tour continued up and down the canal. Part one can be found here. Our tour guide gave us a lot of the history behind the buildings and who created each one. I can't recall it all but I was impressed with each building having its own distinct character. Nothing looked the same.
